During my FYS class, other groups presented on events in the Jim Crow Eras while my group studies the Plessy v. Ferguson. Some of the events the events we learned about were these:
Sundown Towns
Sundown Towns were towns where only white people lived, also known as "graytowns" In these towns black people, or people of any color could not be seen after dark. If they were seen after dark they would be jumped, or killed sometimes. It wasn't a safe place for anyone who wasn't white.
School Segregation
Children were separated by race and were forced to attend different schools during the Jim Crow Era. The black schools were in very bad condition, and did not have the amenities that white schools had. The black schools had no money to spend on improvements, therefor they had a much lower level of education. White schools were much larger, and nice. Black children had to attend schools with leaky roofs, broken windows, and saggy floors. They were also very overcrowded and did not have qualified teachers. Children of color were often taken out of school as soon as they were at an age where they could work to help support their families.

The Second Clan
The second clan was another group created to target blacks, jews, and foreigners, 50 years after the development of the KKK. The founder of this group was Joseph Simmons. The members of the group believed in Fundamentalism and White Supremacy. In 1924 the group elected officials all over the United States. By 1925 it had expanded from 3 million to 8 million members, or klansmen.
