Team Derek!

An introduction to our First Year Seminar team

Hello! My name is Rebecca Finch and I am from Durham North Carolina. I am an Event Management major and might minor in Strategic Communication. My goal after I graduate is to plan large music festivals around the United States. When I first toured High Point I fell in love with the campus, and the people around campus. I could tell that this school really put time, energy, and love into every student that came onto campus. I decided to apply early action in hopes that I would be able to become part of the High Point University class of 2022, and thankfully I did. I am living in the University Center 2 and of course, the suit I am in is the only female suit on our floor, so yes... it does get a little noisy.

When I was in high school I was in chorus, and made my way into the Chamber Choir at my school. I really enjoyed music in high school but decided I did not want to continue in college. I also was a competitive swimmer in high school but also decided to not continue. I really wanted to be able to try new things and focus on my studies in college. With my Event Management degree I hope to get involved with venues that host music festivals, and plan all the details of an event that is that large. Planning music festivals is a dream of mine because I would be able to combine my love for music and skills on event planning.

Derek, is our only male team member! Derek is from Worcester, Massachusettes. He is now a freshman at High Point University as a Business Administration major. In his future he wants to work on Wall Street. He came to High Point because he loved the campus. After touring he applied early decision. In high school Derek played club lacrosse. If he could have any super power he would be able to fly so that he could go anywhere he wanted whenever we wanted to go there. He plans to pledge the fraternity Sigma Nu. Dereks favorite food is the spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-a.

Danielle is our team member from Downingtown Pennsylvania. She is now studying at High Point University as an Event Management major, and minoring in sales. In her future she wants to become the CEO of a company. Danielle chose High Point because she wanted to come towards the south, and also loved the campus. Danielle currently lives in the R. G. Wanek center, on the third floor. She ran track in high school, but in college plans to play tennis and rush a sorority. If she could choose any super power she would want to be invisible. Some of her favorite foods are tacos, pizza and cake. She told the team she likes any kind of cake and would choose to eat pizza for breakfast if she had the choice.

Rya, is out team member from Atlanta, Georgia. Rya is majoring in Psychology and minoring in spanish and sociology. Her dream job is to become and child psycologist but is also interested in doing social work. She choose to come to High Point because she loved the campus. Right after her first campus tour, she changed her application to Early Decision. Rya is now living in the University Center. When she was in high school she was not part of any clubs, but she played soccer when she was younger. At High Point she is interested in joining a sorority. Her superpower of choice is telepathy and her favorite food is tacos!

Gabriella is our final team member who has travelled all the way from Long Island, New York. She is majoring in Exercise Science. In her future, she plans to become an occupational therapist. When Gab toured High Point she loved the campus and felt that the teachers were very helpful and that the class sizes were perfect. She felt that she would always feel motivated here. She currently is living in the R.G. Wanek Center. Gab wants to be involved in the big brother, big sister program here at High Point. The superpower she would choose for herself would be invisibility and her favorite food is steak!
